Motor Irregular Operation
LPG injector malfunction is one of the most common symptoms of a motor running irregularly. The motor may shake, vibrate, or run unevenly at idle or low speeds. This occurs because the injectors do not spray the correct amount of LPG, preventing the engine from operating efficiently.
Increase in Fuel Consumption
Faulty LPG injectors can lead to an increase in fuel consumption by preventing the fuel from burning correctly. If you notice a sudden increase in your vehicle´s LPG consumption, it may indicate an issue with the injectors. Increased fuel consumption can also cause the vehicle to emit more harmful emissions into the environment.
Loss of Engine Power and Acceleration Issues
When LPG injectors do not function properly, there can be a decrease in engine power and acceleration issues. The vehicle may not perform as desired, especially at high speeds or during sudden accelerations. This problem arises because LPG is not sprayed sufficiently into the engine, negatively affecting the motor’s power.
Abnormal Smoke from the Exhaust
LPG injector malfunction, can disrupt the engine´s combustion process, causing abnormal smoke to come from the exhaust. A malfunction in one or more injectors can result in incomplete combustion of LPG and lead to black or white smoke coming from the exhaust. This indicates an imbalance in the fuel-air mixture of the engine.
Switching to Gasoline Mode
In some cases, due to faulty LPG injectors, the vehicle may automatically switch to gasoline mode. When a problem is detected in the LPG system, the engine control unit (ECU) may switch the vehicle to gasoline mode to protect it. If your car switches from LPG to gasoline mode, the injectors may need to be checked.
